Founder and CEO

Dr. Johnson is the Founder, visionary and initial developer for geeRemit. She is formerly the CTO, IBM Central, East and West Africa. She was based in Nairobi, Kenya and for three years traveled throughout sub-Saharan Africa, visiting 22 countries on the continent. She is knowledgeable about mobile money, having used it while living on the continent and understands the dynamics of this popular financial tool, global remittance, and African economies. Her previous IBM assignments include Business Development Executive and Senior Technical Staff Member, IBM Middle East and Africa, CTO, Global Small and Medium Business for IBM Systems and Technology Group, the Linux Performance Architechitect, and managing the Linux Performance, WebSphere Database Development, and Java Server Performance Teams. She was a member of the IBM Academy of Technology and has received numerous technical and professional awards. She is a Master Inventor with over 40 issued and pending patents. She has authored and co-authored over 80 publications, is Editor-in-Chief of the book Performance Tuning for Linux Servers, and is author of Inspirational Nuggets, and Inspirational Nuggets Too. Dr. Johnson earned B.S., (summa cum laude), M.S., and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering from Southern University, Stanford University, and Rice University, respectively. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers.
